New Management Team – December 2014

As the work load has increased with more and more residential customers seeking our services, and our commercial work load also picking up the pace, we now welcome our Senior Residential Arborist Ruben Hull to the management team as Operations Manager. Bek Lynch has now moved into the role of General Manager working alongside Raoni in the commercial sector and heading the Contracts Management. Ruben brings his wide experience of tree care and long term employment with the company into our daily operations to deliver our fast service quality tree care.

FOR THE LOVE OF TREES – DECEMBER 2014

Part of upholding our ethos of respecting the trees we work with in the wider environment, is good climbing and rope techniques while working in the trees. These skills not only keep our crew members safe while working but also help protect the tree from damage while they are being worked in. Raoni took the opportunity to share his climbing experience and skill share over a weekend with fellow climbers. As you can see in the picture, life in trees is pretty good!

Temporary Nursery for the PIKO Kowhai Tree – November 2014

Piko Wholefoods on Kilmore St began undergoing earthquake repairs this month. The Kowhai tree that has been a part of Piko Wholefoods landscape was in danger of being damaged while the repairs were being carried out, so Four Seasons were asked to use our mature tree transplanting expertise to help keep the symbolic Kowhai tree. Using a small crane and basket technique for transplanting, we now have the pleasure of giving the Kowhai a temporary home at our depot until the repairs are complete.

NZ Arb National Tree Climbing Championship – November 2014

Raoni, Ruben and Bek had an opportunity to participate in the event as volunteers assisting with gear checks, the running of specific events and score keeping.

The weather was challenging but what a great couple of days of climbing and an opportunity to continue networking and catching with friends after the conference.

Congratulations to Nicky Ward-Allen for winnining the womens Nz Championship and to Craig Wilson for winning the Mens Masters.

NZ Arb Annual Conference 2014 – Thursday 16th and Friday 17th October 2014

Held in Rotorua this year, Raoni, Ruben and Bek headed northward to represent Four Seasons Tree Care at the NZ ARB conference. The objective of the conference is to examine the practice and development of arboriculture, from its standard roots of amenity tree care to the new and innovative techniques and technologies in the ever-changing and revolutionary practices used today.

Not only did we hear from some of the industry’s leading professionals but we came away with new friends and acquaintances, inspiration, even more enthusiasm about what we do!

We had an amazing time and also got the opportunity to explore the Redwood forest, check out the local trees and gardens and an entertaining evening at the Prize giving Banquet on the Friday evening.

Langdons Rd Pinoak Transplant – October 2014

This was an exciting project for Four Seasons Tree Care. We were asked to utilise our mature tree transplanting expertise to transplant a protected Pin Oak tree within a new development site. We worked with a great team from Titan Cranes and the onsite Taggarts team to deliver a very successful and smooth 26 tonne tree and root ball transplant operation.

Chainsaw training day – August 2014

As part of our Zero Harm policy we have here at Four Seasons Tree Care, we like to keep our team up skilled, and strive to provide opportunities for further training those skills. Because we are a team of tree lovers and appreciate the outdoors, Camla Farm in Dunsandal, and our very good friend Rob Upritchard of Rob Upritchard Landscaping, provided us with beautiful surroundings for the day.

Arial Rescue Practice Day – 27th June 2014

Arial rescue is an important part of safety in aboriculture. If anything should happen to an arborist while in the tree, his ground crew must be able to reach him quickly and safely bring him to the ground for first aid. We take our arborist safety very seriously and regularly get together to keep these skills fresh and in use. It is often a family event and there are always fun times to be had no matter the occasion! It was also the birthday of our operations manager Bek Lynch, thank you to Megan for the delicious cake shared by all.

Quail Island Tree Care – May 2014

Asked to return and work through the storm damage from the Autumn storms that swept through the harbour basin, we did not hesitate to offer our services again to Quail Island. As we have a strong presence throughout the Peninsula for our work and our willingness to work in remote places, we love the opportunity to continue our support of the Island with its tree safety and care. The team also enjoys the chance to get ‘Papa Smurf’ out on the water and take in the beautiful harbour working view.

Exciting new Depot Landscaping – 19th May 2014

After we settled in to our new office space, we turned our efforts to creating the outside space into a functional depot, but also an enjoyable environment for all of our staff.

With the help of Rob Upritchard Sculptural Landscaping, the land has been transformed. We have a close working relationship with Rob, and have combined forces on many landscaping jobs, from the smallest to the largest scale.
